Job title: Associate Director, Translational Oncology, ODDU
Darrell Borger is Associate Director of the Translational Oncology program in Takeda’s Oncology Drug Development Unit and Head of the Integrated Translational Technologies Laboratory. During his 1.5 years at Takeda, he has been developing innovative approaches to identify changes in the activity of immune cells within intact tumor tissue in response to novel immune modulating therapies undergoing preclinical development. Darrell joined Takeda from Massachusetts General Hospital where he developed several clinical laboratories that implemented novel technologies that molecularly “fingerprinted” a cancer patient’s tumor and allowed clinicians to direct their patients to specific drugs that they were most likely to respond to. He received his PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Carolina, School of Medicine and completed his post-doctoral training at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute where he identified novel cancer pathways and mechanisms of resistance to cancer treatment.
