Bio:
John Shon is the Chief Technology Officer of Serimmune where he leads the development of informatics software and algorithms for the company’s platforms. Dr. Shon was most recently Vice President of Bioinformatics and Data Sciences at Illumina, where he led teams of bioinformatics scientists in developing algorithms and methods for Illumina NGS instruments, assays and informatics, with a focus on interpreting whole genomes for population-scale collaborations in rare disease and cancer. Prior to Illumina, Dr. Shon spent more than a decade in key leadership roles at pharmaceutical companies. He was Vice President of Informatics, Research IT and External Innovation at Janssen Pharmaceuticals, where he built data science teams to support R&D, clinical development and diagnostics. At Roche, Dr. Shon led informatics groups in translational research for target discovery, biomarker selection, drug safety and personalized healthcare. He earned his A.B. in Biochemistry from Harvard and an M.D. from Stanford. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Chicago and his postdoc at Stanford University School of Medicine, where he also earned an M.S. in Medical Information Sciences.
